

Gerald Douglas Stockton died of heart failure on February 27, 2024 at his home at 517 Saddlebrook Lane, Hopkins SC. He had just had his 62nd birthday 7 days earlier. Jerry was born in South Bend, Indiana. He moved to Beaufort NC with his mother where he enjoyed fishing with his aunt and uncle. He moved to Richland Washington where he attended Richland HS, and attained his GED. He married his wife Lisa Marie Stockton and worked in the restaurant business. He moved to Columbia, SC where he worked as an operations managed in a local HVAC company and subsequently acquired a job in HVAC operations in Oklahoma City, OK. He returned to Columbia SC after the death of his wife on August 21, 2017 where he lived with his mother and stepfather and maintained a close remote relationship with his two best friends, Mike McSpadden and Roger Hale. Jerry was known for his many humorous stories, his culinary skills, and someone who could make a social gathering full of life. Jerry is survived by his mother, Barbara Ellen Howe, stepfather Duncan Howe, father Gerald Eugene Stockton, two brothers Eric and Jeffrey Thompson, and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at the VFW Post on 534 S. Beltline Blvd, Columbia, SC on March 9 at 1 pm.
