Hayden Wesley Weathersbee Jr.

Hayden Wesley Weathersbee Jr, 86, of Bluffton, SC, went into the presence of the Lord at his home on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Born August 14, 1938, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Hayden Wesley Weathersbee Sr. and Edith Johnson Weathersbee of Cayce, SC.

Mr. Weathersbee was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Adele Patricia Marsha Weathersbee. They lived in Columbia, SC together for 54 years.

Mr. Weathersbee was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. In the 1960s, after serving in the South Carolina National Guard, he studied UNIVAC mainframe computers with the Sperry Corporation and became one of the earliest mainframe computer experts in South Carolina, working for the Palmetto State Life Insurance Company. He later worked in data processing for the state of South Carolina until his retirement. A Clemson Tiger through-and-through, he enjoyed following Clemson Tiger athletics his entire life. He was also an avid golfer.

Mr. Weathersbee is survived by his sons Wes and Bryan (Christine); grandchildren, Joseph, Brooke, Nicholas, Grace, and Briana; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The service for Mr. Weathersbee will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3600 Devine Street in Columbia. The interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park immediately following the Mass. Visitation will be on Friday, September 20 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
