

COLUMBIA - Helen Kronrad Coplan, 103, died Monday, January 31, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Oskar Kronrad and Fannie Lungren Kronrad. A graduate of Columbia High School, she attended the University of South Carolina where she started at the age of 16 and graduated at age 20. Helen worked as an area manager for World Book Encyclopedia. She was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue and Hadassah. Helen loved cooking, enjoyed yoga at the Lourie Center, and was a great swimmer.
Surviving are her four daughters, Irene Addlestone (David) of Washington, DC, Harriett Scott of Columbia, SC, Sheila Jonas (John) of Alexandria, VA, and Maxine Wolfson (Bill) of Tampa, Fl; son, Michael Coplan (Lisa) of Baltimore, MD; twelve grandchildren, Ben Addlestone, Nathaniel Addlestone, Riley Binnicker, Matthew Scott, Alan Wolfson, Marc Wolfson, Joel Wolfson, Louis Coplan, Dori Coplan, Max Coplan, Ben Jonas, and David Jonas (Casey); great-grandchildren, Coplan Jonas, Janet Jonas, Hayes Binnicker, Hope Binnicker, Hanna Binnicker, and Sylvan Addlestone; and many nieces, nephews, and granddogs.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Louis Coplan; her brother, William Kronrad; and sisters, Betty Goldberg and Toby Hirsch.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in Beth Shalom Whaley Street Cemetery. There will also be a livestream of the service on Dunbar Funeral Home – Devine’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/DunbarDevine.
