Hildred "Granny" Irene Dockery

Celebration of Life Services will be held 5:00 pm Friday, September 13, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home - Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends and family from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Hildred was born in Andrews, NC to Charles and Rita Angel Gibson. She retired after almost 30 years of service at Square D Electric Company in Columbia. Hildred was a lifelong Christian, a devoted wife, and a cherished mother. A beautiful woman from the inside out, her laughter was contagious. She loved working in her yard and piddling in her flower beds. Hildred was affectionately known as “Granny” to all that knew her and her home was always welcoming, full of love and a place where everyone gathered.

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Martin “Doc” L. Dockery. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tammy Miller (Floyd), Michael “Bull” Dockery (Carole); five grandchildren, Shaunna Rosenthal (Pat), Joshua Dockery (Lindsay), Kanen Borrero (Kelly), Dolan Borrero (Jenny), Hannah Sanders (Jamie); four great grandchildren, Alexander, Tristan, Evan, Kieran, two brothers; Charles “Junior” Gibson (Clara Mae), Robert “Bob” Gibson (Wilma) and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers at Sumter Terrace for their friendship and compassion in her final years.
