COLUMBIA - Irene Regina Wegrzynowski’s life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. with burial immediately following in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Irene passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 14, 1921, the daughter of the late Regina and Valentine Olczak.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Schneider (John); her sons, John Wegrzynowski (Patricia) and Michael Wegrzynowski (Gayle).
She was a loving grandmother to Jeanne Michel (Brian), Kerrie Jones (Chris), Elizabeth Moore, Joseph Wegrzynowski (Alcina) and Thomas Wegrzynowski (Charlotte); and a loving great-grandmother (Gima) to Jacob Michel, Grace Michel, Zachary Michel, William Michel, Evelyn Jones, Langdon Moore, Brady Moore, Hudson Moore, Briana Wegrzynowski, Marc Wegrzynowski, Samuel Wegrzynowski and Benjamin Wegrzynowski.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Wegrzynowski, and her brothers, Edward Olczak, Sigmund Olczak and Frank Olczak.
Irene was a longtime member of Saint Joseph Church and an active member when she was in good health of the Saint Joseph Women’s Society. In 1986, she was one of the original members of the Caughman Road Park Seniors organized by Lisa Smarr; she loved the numerous bus trips and activities of the group.
