

Columbia, South Carolina of COPD and COVID-19 complications. He was born to Thomas
Steven and Allie Mae Phelps Eggleton of Teays, West Virginia on August 13, 1933.
He was a 1952 graduate of Winfield High School, a U.S. Navy veteran, a long distance truck
driver of 40+ years, and dearly loved West Virginia Mountaineers football. Jack was a lifelong
resident of Winfield, West Virginia until he moved to Columbia in 2020.
A devoted husband and father, Jack is survived by his son Jim (Laura) of Columbia, South
Carolina; daughter Debbie McClelland (Al) of Warsaw, Indiana, son Mike (Suzanne) of
Hurricane, West Virginia, twin sister Jane of Scott Depot, West Virginia, brother Dash of
Washington Court House, Ohio, and sister Ruth of Ocala, Florida. He was PaPa to eight
grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and countless other family
members.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, wife Violet (Totten), brothers Frankie, Dick, Woodrow,
Carl, Leo, Bill, Sam, Lloyd, and sisters Edith and Kathleen.
His ashes will be interred at Heaven's Gateway Memorial Gardens, Winfield, West Virginia at a
