James Frank Godfrey

LEXINGTON A graveside service for James Frank Godfrey, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2025, in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mr. Godfrey passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Wellmore of Lexington. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late B. Frank and Elise Hawkins Godfrey. He was a graduate of Dreher High School in 1960 and earned a degree in Industrial Management from Clemson University. He served in the 1st Calvary Division, U.S. Army, in Vietnam.

While a resident of Wellmore of Lexington, he was a regular at Bingo, often joyfully calling out “O Boy!” whenever one of his numbers was announced. He also enjoyed cruising around the parking lot at Wellmore in his power chair with his Clemson flag proudly flying above him, giving drivers a friendly reminder not to back up into him.

He is survived by his longtime friend, Barbara Powell and several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clemson University.
