
COLUMBIA Funeral service for James “Jim” Andrew Quinn, 59, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2015, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with burial in the family cemetery in York County. The family will receive friends at a reception at the church following the funeral service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Quinn died at home Friday, December 4, 2015. Jim was raised in Columbia and attended A.C. Flora High School, Erskine College, and the University of South Carolina School of Law. After earning his law degree, he practiced in Lake Wales, Florida, clerked for the South Carolina Court of Appeals, and had a long career as legal counsel for the S.C. Department of Natural Resources from which he retired. After retirement he was in private practice until his death. He attended St. John’s Episcopal Church and was an active member of the Men’s group. He was a charter member of The Hatiola Hunt. Jim loved his Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and was a true brother to many. He was a kind and giving person who selflessly helped others. Jim loved to cook, especially barbecue for which he won awards, and was known for his storytelling abilities. Jim was a unique, irreplaceable character who touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly. Jim was predeceased by his mother, Jessie (Ben) Stuckey Quinn. He is survived by his father, Fred E. Quinn Jr.; brother, Elliotte III (Annette); nephews, Ben and Elliotte IV (Lyndsey); great-niece, Connor; and very special friend, Jonjon Tuazon.
