James Vernon Sullivan

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for James Vernon Sullivan, 98, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2026 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

Mr. Sullivan died Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he was the son of the late James Fitz Sullivan and Nellie “Marie” Klotz Sullivan. He graduated from high school and went on to attend college. James served in the US Army and after his service, he became the owner and operator of his own trucking business. In his spare time, he enjoyed music and sports.

Surviving are his sons, James Sullivan and Gary Sulllivan (Helen); daughter, Doreen Lewis (John); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Sullivan.
