Mr. James Orville Vasarhelyi

COLUMBIA Funeral service for James “Jim” Orville Vasarhelyi, 57, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at their home following the service.  Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.      Mr. Vasarhelyi died Friday, May 9, 2014.  Born in Chapmanville, W.Va., he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  He was Chairman of the Board of Palmetto Health Alliance, Board Member of Richland Memorial Hospital, member of Carolina Baseball Umpires Association and Palmetto Collegiate Umpire Association.  He was owner of Jim Vasarhelyi Insurance Agency, Inc.      Surviving are his wife, Patricia “Pam” McMillan Vasarhelyi; son, Patrick Kale Vasarhelyi of Columbia; his mother, Anita Louise Ellis Vasarhelyi Hagerty of Chapmanville; sister, Mildred Lejeana Rockel of Chapmanville; brother, Larry Michael Vasarhelyi.      The family wishes to thank the staff of Warriors Walk Hospice at the WJB Dorn Veterans Medical Center for their compassionate and loving care.       Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
