

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, in Elmwood Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
A native of Columbia, Mrs. Keels was born on October 25, 1926 to Rosa Lee and Deems Haltiwanger. Jane was a graduate of RPI, an extension of William and Mary College in Richmond, VA. She was a lifelong active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The spirit of the Lord shone through her eyes as she joyfully shared love and laughter with so many others.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 26 years Dr. William Jennings Shealy and her husband of 21 years John Daniel Keels, Jr., a sister Caroline Kohn, and stepdaughters Betty Walker and Cathy Griffith (Shep). Survivors include her children, Sharon Grubb, Kristen Evans (Johnny), Bill Shealy (Deb); her stepchildren, Johnny Keels (Angie), Burnell Keels (Mary); 13 grandchildren, Dana Refling (Tyler), Stuart Grubb (Susan), Lindsey Pierson (Brian), Brett Evans (Laurin), Welby Hackney (John), Kyle Evans, Tyler Pearson (Clay), Drew Evans (Emily Ann), Graham Paschal (Will), Alex Najdecki (Davis), Emily Lusk (Tyler), Kas Shealy (Yan Bai), Thomas Shealy; 8 step grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and dear nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Laurel Crest, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
