

COLUMBIA - Jane Margaret Wilson, 72, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016. Born in Columbia on June 22, 1943, she was a daughter of the late James Knox Wilson and Maude Gregory Wilson. She graduated from Eau Claire High School and later worked in the SC State House of Representatives for the Ethics, Rules and Interstate Cooperation Committees for many years as well as for the Speaker Pro Tempore. She later worked in the Lt. Governor’s Office and in 1987 she was awarded the SC Order of Palmetto by Governor Dick Riley. She then worked for Berry, Dunbar and Daniel Law Firm as well as Haynesworth, Sinkler and Boyd Law Firm. She was a fundraiser for the SC Democratic Party and retired after a successful lobbying career. Jane is survived by her four children: Kenneth Wayne Wicker (Mary), Kim W. Carlen (Jamie), Allison W. Rider and Kelly W. Rourk (Corbett). She is also survived by her eight grandchildren whom she adored: Wilson G. Wicker, James A. Carlen V, Margaret B. Carlen, Raleigh “Knox” Carlen, John L. Rider, Abigail C. Rider, Jacob M. Rourk and Elizabeth A. Rourk. She also leaves behind her siblings, Barbara W. Reynolds, Sandra K. McKinney and James M. Wilson. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to Coastal Samaritan Counseling Center, 901 N.
