COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Lt. Jay Robert Jashinsky, 66, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, with Navy honors. There will also be a livestream of the service on Dunbar Funeral Home – Devine’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/DunbarDevine.
Lt. Jay Robert Jashinsky went home to be with our Lord on May 14, 2021 in Columbia, SC. Born December 14, 1954, in Sumter, he was a son of Ollie Mae Bazen Jashinsky of West Columbia and the late John Edward Jashinsky of West Columbia.
Surviving are his wife, Lisa Bearden Jashinsky of Columbia; son, John C. Jashinsky (Mary); his sister, Gerri Brown; his brother, Edward Jashinsky (Cathy); his grandchildren, Layla Grace, Jackson, and Mary Kate; beloved pets, Jimmy and Riley; three nieces and a nephew.
Jay earned his Bachelor’s degree from University of South Carolina in 1977. He served with the US Navy as a Lieutenant aboard the USS Koelsch. Jay then went on to complete a degree from USC to be a certified public accountant. Jay worked at Burkett, Burkett, & Burkett for many years then retired with the SC office of Regulatory Staff.
Jay was active in his church at First Baptist of Columbia and loved the Lord. He enjoyed spending his time with family, pets, flying planes, canoeing, watching the Gamecocks play, and working in the yard.
