

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Jeannette Russ Cox, 87, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2025 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cox died on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Born in Loris, SC, she was the daughter of the late Edward Parker Russ and Joanna Olene Best Russ. She worked in Human Resources at Baptist Hospital until her retirement. Jeannette, also known as Nette and Memaw, was a devoted member of Shandon Baptist Church and previously belonged to Greenlawn Baptist Church. She had a passion for sewing, needlework, particularly cross stitching, knitting, crocheting afghans and sewing quilts. Always with a smile on her face and never one to complain, she enjoyed cooking and was known to cook the best fried chicken ever. She was especially celebrated for her delicious specialties.
Surviving are her daughter, Pamela C. Elkins (Tommy); four grandsons, Edward, Hunter (Lakyn), Harmon and Baker; one great-granddaughter, Eden; and brother, Henry “Uncle Bud” Russ (Angie).
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jesse A. Cox and son, Russell Cox.
