I miss you everyday Dad, and I know your sweet, kind spirit is with Jesus now. Sometimes I am so sad that you are gone, but then I am grateful that you are not suffering what you told me, anymore.

I was so saddened to hear of my dear friend’s passing.  Bob was such a charismatic person.  I will miss his warm smile, embracing handshake  and reliable integrity.  These attributes all contributed to his many friends, successful business and devoted employees.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Bob Capes was already a legend and an icon when we began our real estate careers with Bob Capes Realty in the 80’s. We learned a great deal from him. He always had good advice, and he set a good example of how to do real estate the right way, always with integrity and civility. You could count on him; if he said he would do something, you didn’t need it in writing, you didn’t even need a handshake, because he would most certainly do what he said he would do. He became a friend of ours as well as a mentor, and his wife Lisa also became a friend. We have fond memories of fun times with Bob and Lisa at real estate events, parties, dinners, and travels. The first time Jennifer and I ever went sailing was with Bob and Lisa in Charleston Harbor. Real estate has lost a great leader and a great man. We have lost a friend, and our hearts go out to Lisa for her loss. 

What a monumental loss for our community. Bob Capes was an amazing real estate icon, an even finer gentleman and a genuine true friend to so many of us. He never disappointed anyone. Were it not for Mr. Capes I would have never have met my wonderful wife Melissa. His contributions to our Midlands world are immeasurable. May God bless Mr. Capes in Heaven and provide comfort to all of us who grieve the loss of such an irreplaceable champion of Columbia.

All of us that worked at Rivermont in the 70s were not only taught the art of selling but the art of the real estate business. In the late 70s We learned what a bond for title was,  22% interest and Jimmy Carter was because of that. I knew nothing about rental property but learned because Bob did. We were also taught how to qualify customers for a loan, imagine that. It goes on and on. 
John Coleman and Bob not only built a fabulous real estate company but built one that lasted for over 45 years And the whole time they were having to herd cats, like me, and numerous others who worked there. Every time I think about Bob and those wonderful early days of Bob Capes Realty I still smile and so does everyone else that “grew up” there learning the business. 
We all will miss him, He helped so many of us head down the Real estate business path and I will always be grateful.

I was licensed with Bob Capes Realty in the late 80's, and learned so much from Bob. He was an inspiration to all. His sound advice helped me greatly in the years following.   I have many fond memories of Bob and Lisa, at Real Estate and HBA events.  Lisa,  I am so sorry! I know you must miss him terribly.  You are in my thoughts and prayers. 

Our hearts are broken that we have not seen Bob and Lisa over the last few years, Rich memories at Wofford and the extent of decorating and decorations 😊Time with them at Mumbles and Robbies home. Games here in Chattanooga with both of them. Great times at our New Years chili bowl and Bob, watching Doyal cook, seated in a chair at the kitchen table with his scotch. Doyal couldn’t have cooked without Bob!!!! We loved when they came and stayed with us!!!!! He will be sorely missed by all the Swafford’s !!!’ Our sons  loved him too! Wonderful, generous, kind and jovial man!!!!! We will miss you terribly! Anne and Doyal♥️♥️

Haven’t seen Bob in many years, however we shared a tradition of a rather long telephone conservation each year during Christmas holidays.  One word comes to mind when thinking of Bob. INTEGRITY .  Bob touched so many lives with his kindness, always willing to listen and had the ability to successfully allow others to open up to him. During my years with his company, he was most often referred to as “Teddy Bear”.  I don’t think he was ever aware of his nickname but it was certainly appropriate to describe his larger than life persona. Sleep well Sherlock.  Tom Dabney

One more thing - Ken and I would not miss the service for anything but the commitment to babysit our grandchildren in Charleston that was planned months ago.  

We loved out time with Bob and Lisa - will miss Bob - had some great times together over the years.  Wish I could find some pictures but not possible now.  Much love the all the family and hope happy memories will sustain them.

I am so saddened of the passing of Mr Capes.  Never a dull moment with Bob.  Worked with & for Bob many years, had great fun in the real estate business.  Rest in peace sir.  

Mr. Capes was such a wonderful gentleman.  There are countless fond memories of his legacy both as a professional and genuine true friend. What an inspiration to thousands of people throughout his lifelong career in real estate. With a fabulous sense of humor and impeccable stories of success, he touched us all in a way we are each able to never forget.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work as a Realtor for Bob Capes in the early nineties.
I worked at the corporate office off of Greystone, Bob was a wonderful and thoughtful man, he helped me through some rough times and I will never forget him.

I have many fond memories of working with Bob in the early 70’s at Bob Capes Realty. He built the company with agents in the 70’s that became very successful Realtors during that time.
