COLUMBIA A private graveside service for Joyce Setzler Hudson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in First Presbyterian Churchyard. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Hudson died December 9, 2017. Born November 29, 1926 in Columbia, SC. She was the daughter of the late Roy Setzler and Willie Mae Ashley. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Walker Lewis Hudson, Jr. A graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School. Before her health declined, she was a very active 70+ year member of First Presbyterian Church. She served her church in many ways, notably cleaning the Communion silver for many, many years. During her career, she was in various levels of management at Southern Bell and retired after 33 years of service. She was a member of Spring Valley Country Club and the Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and the mountains with her family. She was well known for her cooking skills, especially for the cakes she loved to make. Christmas was one of her most favorite times of the year. She was beautiful inside and out, and loved the Lord and her family deeply.
Surviving are her daughter Lisa Hudson Evans (Carlos) and grandchild, Blakeley Hudson Evans, all of Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia, SC 29201; or Tidewater Hospice, 1065 Silver Bluff Rd, Aiken, SC 29803.
