June Asbill Ginn

“Spunky” is how her niece described her; strong, determined, and resilient. June was the mother of Ronald Miller Asbill and Michael Thomas Asbill. “Mother” being her most important role, loving and devoted always.

Born June 30, 1931 to Reba and Clem Gantt in Columbia, SC. She was married to Carl Miller Asbill, Jr. until his death in 1966. She was married to Robert L. Ginn and lived in Elgin, SC until his death in 2009.

June was associated with Columbia Eye Clinic for 37 years and was instrumental in its growth and success. She shared many fond memories of her time there and continued relationships for many years after her retirement in 1995.

Her son, Ron, has 2 children, Michael Miller Asbill and Jennifer Asbill Sproles (Michael) who have given him 4 grandchildren.

Her son, Michael, has 2 children, Michelle Asbill Jowers (Greg) and James Carl Asbill. He has 3 grandchildren.

Ron and Mike have both remarried and have 6 stepchildren and one stepgrandson. June was “Nanny” to them all.

June was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Gantt Waites, who was blessed with 5 children and many grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her brother, William “Bill” Gantt, who had 4 children and many grandchildren as well. Aunt June loved them all and happily joined in their upbringing.

June spent the past 3 years in assisted living at the Colonial (English Gardens) in Camden, SC, where she was loved and cared for by the excellent staff and caregiver, Janet Rich, who cared for her for over 5 years.

June will be greatly missed and was greatly loved.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026 in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens.
