Ms. Fowlkes passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022. Born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, she was a daughter of the late Firman William Callahan and Joeonetta Gebhardt Callahan. Following the family’s move to Columbia shortly after WW II, Kathleen became an authentic South Carolinian. She was a retired Accounting Manager for Davis and Garvin Agency. Ms. Fowlkes enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, praying for everyone, volunteering, and traveling- including Europe, Israel and most of the USA. She was a generous, strong mother, and loving grandmother. She was an active and life-long dedicated member of her beloved Saint Peter’s. Kathleen spent many years as moderator for the Catholic Youth Organization, was a member of the Sodality, baked many a grandma’s cookie for numerous church functions, and simply gave countless years of service to the parish. Thousands of Ft. Jackson Soldiers received a rosary hand made by Kathleen and her friends. According to her fellow residents of Whitehall, she was the best neighbor and truest friend.
Surviving are her sons, Robert F. Fowlkes, III of Port Orford, OR, William James Fowlkes of Woodlands, TX, and John Charles Fowlkes (Nancy Pursley) of Roswell, GA; daughters, Anna Mazzone (Will Lashley) of London, England, and Mary Fowlkes-Wheetley (Jamie Mitchum) of Woodstock, GA; brothers, Michael E.
