
Kathryn Elise Gallimore Milling passed away on January 25, 2022 at Prisma Baptist Columbia with her daughter Chloe Jaco and husband Dale Milling at her side. Mrs. Milling was 71 at the time of her passing and had succumbed to a recent illness over the past few weeks.
Kathy was born in Pierre, South Dakota on September 30, 1950 to William Laurence Gallimore and Constance Virginia (Farrell) Gallimore. Kathy moved to Columbia, SC in 1972 and worked at the Old Columbia Hospital in an administrative position. She later worked several years for the South Carolina Department of Corrections as the Administrative Hearing Officer. Kathy attended the University of South Carolina, majoring in Criminal Justice earning a Bachelor of Science degree. And also pursued a Masters in Criminal Justice degree at USC. While pursuing her Masters degree, she meet her husband Dale and were married on July 21, 1984. They were married in the Rutledge Chapel, on the Horseshoe, at USC.
She later moved to Naperville, IL with her husband in 1990. There she worked for the Daily Herald newspaper as an administrative assistant in the Advertising Department. Upon her return to Columbia, SC in 2000, she began working in the medical field. First at the South Carolina Heart Center as the Executive Assistant to the CEO. She later became an Executive Assistant with Palmetto Health for their Cancer Center. For several years she was a Business Financial Analyst for Palmetto Health and Prisma Health until her retirement in 2020.
Kathy enjoyed her Starbucks, artwork, cookbooks, lava lamps, and of course her beloved pets (Bunky, Sweetie, Darla, Gabby and Louie). More importantly she loved her family, extended family and friends.
Kathy is preceded in death by her father (William Gallimore), mother (Constance Gallimore), and granddaughter Elise Nicolette Jaco. She is survived by her husband Billy Dale Milling; daughter Chloe Colette Schueler. Jaco; grandson Delsin Kurt Jaco and granddaughter Colette Cheyenne Jaco, all of Columbia, SC; sisters Patricia Ann Gallimore of Lincoln, NE and Claire Colette Gallimore of Omaha, NE. There are also nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mrs. Milling's name to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society.
