COLUMBIA A Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth Francis Holman Jr., 76, will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday March 19, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. A private burial will take place in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Ken passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Born October 4, 1941 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he was the son of Mr. Kenneth Francis Holman Sr. and Mary L. Vajda Holman. He graduated from New Brunswick High School and Villanova University where he was in the NROTC.
Following his education, he was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Camp Lejeune North Carolina. There he met his future bride of 50 years, Dianne Dempsey. They were married on November 26, 1966. He later began a career in Heavy Construction Equipment Sales, frequently traveling to provide for his family.
Known as a reader and an avid fisherman, he loved bocce ball and salt water, and a day at the beach was better than a day anywhere else!! He had an amazing sense of humor, a quick wit and could always tell a great joke!
Surviving are his daughter, Mary Beth Holman; son, Kenneth “Tripp” Holman; his sister, Kathleen Holman McKibben (Michael), of Cincinnati, Ohio; his sister-in-law, Jane Dempsey Hill of Albany, Georgia; niece, Dana Hill Oosterveen (Casey); nephews, Sean McKibben, Brian McKibben, and Dave Hill; great-niece, Sienna McKibben; great-nephews, Charlie Oosterveen, Wade Oosterveen, and Davidson Hill.
The family would like to thank the many friends who called, visited and provided food and support.
