Laura Tarrant Robinson
October 8, 1952 – March 18, 2020
After a hard-fought battle with Pneumonia, Laura, 67 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, VA with her family sitting by her side. Laura was born October 8, 1952 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late William “Bill” and Sarah Tarrant. She grew up in a close, God-loving family, being the oldest of three sisters whom she leaves behind.
Laura married Larry Robinson on September 6, 1975 and following that union, they spent years traveling the world with their three children; William “Marshall”, Brandon and Lauren before settling in Manassas, VA.
Laura was a driven professional but a devoted wife and mother first; loving her family above all things. Laura was an avid animal lover who also enjoyed gardening, reading, baking cookies with her grandchildren, making memories every moment she could, hosting Holidays, visiting the beach and traveling the world. Laura enjoyed the finer things in life earning her the lifelong nickname “Queenie” which her family and grandkids, although they pronounce it as “Nini”, would call her. Laura was a truly genuine person who wore her heart on her sleeve. She loved with a love like no other and never failed to take care of others before herself. Laura once said that “If you remember anything of me after I leave this world remember that I loved even when it was foolish. That I cared even when it was unwanted. When my body is gone remember my heart”.
Laura is survived by her children’s father, Larry; her three children, Marshall, Brandon and Lauren; three grandchildren, Hannah, Trey and Kendall; two sisters, Sarah Elvington and Carole Collins; Brother-in-law Fred Elvington; Brother-in-law Steve Pullie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Due to restrictions with the current world events, in lieu of a traditional visitation and Funeral Service in Manassas, VA, a Memorial Service will be held at Pierce Funeral Home in Manassas at a later date, still to be determined, where all will be welcome.
Laura requested to be buried near her late parents at Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia, SC. As such, a visitation will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel in Columbia, SC on March 26, 2020 from 5-7 pm followed by a Funeral Service at Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia, SC on March 27, 2020 at 1 pm where she will finally be laid to rest.

It is hard to imagine that my dear cousin Laura is no longer with us. I’ll always remember her from our childhood days as happy, kind and full of energy. I have fond memories of family gatherings, sometimes in Columbia, often at our grandparent’s home in Greeleyville when all the cousins would play in the carefree days of our youth. Laura was the first to introduce me to soul music with her collection of 45 RPM records. I thought it was great! Distance separated us as adults, but I know how proud she was of her children and grandchildren. May you rest in peace dear cousin. You will be forever in our fondest memories.
