

Lee Lorick Prina died peacefully on September 13, 2024, at her residence in Washington, DC. Born in 1924 in Columbia, SC, she was a graduate of Holton-Arms Junior College and received a B.A. from the University of South Carolina and an M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In addition to being a devoted mother, she held positions in public relations and had a successful freelance writing career. Her articles were published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Washington Star, Chicago Tribune, and Christian Science Monitor. She also worked on Time-Life Books Gardening Series. She was a former member of the Junior League of Washington, National Press Club, Sulgrave Club, and Tri Delta sorority. A former Washington Animal Rescue League board member, she loved cats, travel, and classical music.
She is survived by her daughter, Lee-Lee L. Prina; son-in-law, Michael Washkevich; nephews, William B. Boyle Jr. and James Maselan; and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her dear husband of 66 years, L. Edgar Prina; parents, Lee Alexander Lorick and Mary Craig Lorick Baker; and twin sister, Mary Lorick Boyle.
The family thanks the staffs of Grand Oaks, Capital Caring Hospice, and caregivers Olive, Elizabeth, Lease, Sylvia, JJ, Ayo, and Denise of Capital City Nurses for their devoted care of Lee.
