He was born on Easter Sunday April 21, 1946 in Greenville, SC to the late LeGrand and Marion Sample. He graduated from Greenville High School and the University of South Carolina. Guerry was one of the co-founders of the Tally Ho Club in Columbia, where for over almost 30 years, multiple generations celebrated USC football and Greek life. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Guerry retired from Southern Wine & Spirits, where he was a State Manager.
Guerry had a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor. His wink made you feel like the two of you shared an inside joke. Although a big and tall man, he was always his sister’s “little” brother and he had a softie’s heart for animals. He loved old movies, beach music, Ocean Drive, and Edisto.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mindy Kline; sister Beverly Bracey of Charleston; niece Jennifer Bracey of Charleston; and many dear friends.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel in Columbia on Friday, July 12, 2024 at noon. The family wishes to thank all their family and friends for their love, prayers, and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the animal shelter of your choice.
