Leslie Wheat Roberts

Born and raised in Columbia, Leslie graduated from A.C. Flora High School and spent decades working for Boyd Management as a property site manager. The role she was proudest of, was “Mom”.

Leslie was someone people were naturally drawn to. She was warm, outgoing, quick-witted, and completely herself. She made friends easily, kept them close, and was deeply loved by people from every chapter of her life. Leslie loved her family, friends, and husband fiercely, and her loyalty, generosity, and affection were wholehearted. She could talk to anyone, made people feel welcome, and had a gift for finding humor in nearly any situation. Her stories and laughter brought people together and made even ordinary moments memorable.

Leslie will be remembered as a dedicated mother, a loving and devoted wife, a generous foster mother, an active volunteer and substitute teacher at Cardinal Newman, a doting dog mom, a cherished daughter and sister, and a treasured friend to so many. Her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved her, but her humor, warmth, and unmistakable spirit will remain with them always.

Animals were among Leslie’s greatest passions from the time she was young. She was an accomplished equestrian, and her walls were filled with championship ribbons she earned in horseback-riding competitions beginning in her teenage years, including a third-place finish in a national division event. Throughout her life, she also rescued and cherished many dogs, giving them the same unconditional love they gave her. She is now reunited with those who went before her, free from pain and surrounded by the love she so freely gave to others.

She is survived by her husband, David Roberts; her son, William (Mia) Kirk; her son, Davis Roberts; her stepdaughter, Morgan Roberts; her parents, Ken and Cheryl Wheat; her sisters, Kimberly Wheat and Lori (Mara) Wheat Forbes; her brother-in-law, Randall L. Roberts; her nieces, Delaney Roberts and Maya Roberts; her beloved second parents, Renee and Jack Bittner; and many more loved ones who will miss her dearly; and her beloved dogs, Piper, Gracie, and Devon.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service in the Parish Hall.
