

Lilo was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany to Friedrich and Augusta Peters on July 20, 1925. In school she excelled as a scholar and athlete, and was particularly noted for her swimming prowess. After marriage Lilo traveled widely as a military wife before settling in Columbia, SC with her husband and nine children. She expressed her lifelong love of nature and beauty in oil paintings and through gardening; she enjoyed filling her home with antiques and collectables and was an early pioneer in DIY home improvements; and on the rare occasions she allowed herself to relax she enjoyed reading a good book or volume of poetry.
Lilo was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Brown, Sr., and son Danny R. Brown. She is survived by eight of her children, Karen Giordani, Harry K. Brown (Chris), Albert L. Brown, Jr., Yvonne M. Brown, Robert J. Brown, Iris E. Judge (KC), Frank W. Brown (Erika), and Tonya L. Tinman (Joel), and by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday July 25, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, 3926 Devine St. in Columbia.
