Louise Oxner

Louise was a bright light in this world and it is with deep sorrow that we must say goodbye too soon. She was so full of life and joy. She carried warmth and loving kindness in everything that she did. This world is now a bit colder without her in it; still we are all blessed to have known her, loved her, and to have received her love. We are comforted in knowing that she is a guardian angel looking over us now.

Louise was adventurous and down to earth at the same time. She enjoyed hiking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family. Her kindness and generosity were unparalleled and she was a shining example of what it means to show up to support those in need. She had a personality that drew others to be in her warmth. We believe that she would want us to live by these words of Maya Angelou: “Continue to be who and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness.”

She was a loving mother to Lance and Kyle as well as to her fur babies Thor and Circe. She treated everyone like family and will be missed by every life she has touched. We will carry her with us forever in our hearts.

Louise was the youngest of six children born to N. Gordon and Rachel Oxner on May 30, 1949. She is survived by her son Lance Lowman, daughter-in-law Di Lowman, grandchildren Starla Trusley and John Mark Richter, sisters Doris (Robert) Lindler, Linda (Troy) Davis, and Edith Oxner; honorary grandchildren Olivia and Frances Steele, her lifelong best friends Marty Jo Barwick and Bob Oswalt; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Kyle, both parents, brother Marion Oxner, and sister Leona Roberts.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, 3926 Devine St, Columbia, SC.
