Lucille Nipper Sox, of Columbia, SC, born on November 18, 1921, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021. She was the wife of the late G. Carnegie Sox and a daughter of the late Frank Nipper and Mattie Bass Nipper.
She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Lucille graduated from Olympia High School, Class of 1938, and was a member of Olympia School Alumni Association and a member of Banks Dove chapter of Daughters of America. She was also a member of Kalico Kapers Square Dance Club and Palmetto Painters. Lucille was an avid traveler and fisherman and loved her family gatherings.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Sox, Margaret Sox Phillips (Harold), Judy Sox Dennis (Pete); grandchildren, Michelle Dennis Hancock (Bruce), Kelly Phillips Stewart (Mike), Keith (Janet), and Troy Phillips (Cheryl); four great-grandchildren, Lauren Collins, Christopher, Joshua, and Jacob Phillips; great-great-granddaughter, Maddie Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Williams, and a brother, Raymond Nipper.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, June 14, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon one hour prior at the funeral home.
