Margaret Padgett Childers

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Margaret Padgett Childers, 87, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Mausoleum. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mrs. Childers passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Born in Batesburg on November 16, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Ruffin Padgett and Cleola Gantt Padgett.

Margaret retired from Aetna Life Insurance Company after 32 years. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and Young at Heart at St. David’s Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed a great mystery. She also enjoyed exercising - her favorite place to take walks was the Riverbanks Zoo.

Surviving are her sons, Robert Lee Childers, Jr. (Dana) of Tryon, N.C. and Randy Childers (Sally) of Winter Haven, Fla,; grandchildren, Lindsay Childers, Taylor Childers (Allie), Dakota Childers, Marlee Childers, Marshall Childers, Maegan Childers, and Nicolas Childers; great-granddaughter, Banner Hope Childers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lee Childers, Sr.; brothers, R. Gantt Padgett, V.D. Padgett and Ruffin Padgett, Jr.; sisters, Jewell E. Knott and Mildred A. Poole.
