
Marian C. Wilroy of Columbia, SC, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed March 9, 2025. Born in Beaverdam, Virginia in 1928 to Beverly Luther and Mattie Rice Cocke, she was graduated from Beaverdam High School and attended Virginia State Teachers College (now Longwood University). After marrying, she devoted herself to her husband and children and their friends quickly became hers.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Robert D. Wilroy, her son Robert D. Wilroy, Jr., and her brother James B. Cocke. She is survived by her daughter, Jane W. Trinkley, and cherished extended family members, including her sister-in-law Barbara S. Cocke and nephews Dean, Wendell and Gregory Cocke of Beaverdam, daughter-in-law Susan Iaconangelo of Parkville MD, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews in north Texas.
Her family is grateful for the years of loving kindness and compassionate care provided by her dear friend Carrol Thompson and ladies from FirstLight Home Care, including Stephine Preston and the late Jerlinda Trinkle.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robert D. Wilroy, Jr. Chemical Engineering Scholarship at Clemson University Foundation, 110 Daniel Drive, Clemson, SC 29631.
