

Marnie was the beloved only child of the late Ray Wilbur and Eloise Farr Hook.
A Funeral Service for Dr. Marnie Hook will be Friday, March 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Smith Chapel at First Presbyterian Church. A Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, in Jackson Hall. There will be a private Burial in Woodridge Memorial Park.
After attending Clemson University, he transferred to The University of Georgia Veterinary School to complete his DVM degree. Upon graduation, he went to Keesler Air Force Base to complete his military service requirement where he served as the Base Veterinarian.
In 1965 he founded St. Andrews Animal Clinic in Columbia, SC and ran a successful practice until his retirement. He was respected and loved by his clients and animals. Dr. Hook was also a member of the South Carolina Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners where he served as Treasurer from 1985-1989, Greater Columbia Association of Veterinarians, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the SCAV. Dr. Hook was honored by the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians as Distinguished Veterinarian of the Year on January 29, 2000.
Marnie, or Papa Marnie, as his grandchildren lovingly called him, delighted in spending time with his family. He attended each child and grandchild's activity with much joy and pride.
His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his wife of 57 years, Patricia Hook and his children Alan (Kara) Hook of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Leslie (Matthew) Bowers of Travelers Rest, SC, Laura (Cecil) Hash, of Cayce, SC, Douglas (Shannon) Hook of West Columbia, SC. His grandchildren are Kaylee Hook, Chase Bowers (Jordan), Delaney Bowers (Landen Jalava), Addyson Bowers, Christopher Mills, Noelle Mills, Madilyn-Anne Hash, Darian Queen (Michael) Dillon Hook, Drake Hook, Dayla Hook, Dane Clark, Tatum Nance, Sean Hash; great granddaughter, Andilynn Queen, and great grandson, Ezra Hook.
Marnie was also a devout and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, SC.
