COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Martha Marie Holley Rector, 85, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Martha Rector went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 5, 2018. Born in Bethune, S.C., she was a daughter of the late William Minor Holley and Ellie Catoe Holley. Martha retired in 1994 from the Comptroller General’s Office. She was an active volunteer at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Bethel Sunday School Class. Martha was a wonderful cook who enjoyed baking for family and friends, along with crocheting. Surviving are her daughter, Teresa Hayes of Camden; granddaughter, Amanda Davis (Ryan) of Camden; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Lily Kate; brother, Byron Holley (Ruby) of West Palm Beach, Florida; sister-in-law, Mary Holley of Columbia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Horace Walter Rector; daughter, Deborah Rector; son, Walter Horace Rector; and siblings, Robert Holley, Margaret Bumgardner, James Holley, Sarah Davis, Ray Holley, Mary Lou Jeffcoat, and John Holley. GOT TO KNOW MRS. MARTHA THRU GRANDDAUGHTER AMANDA. SUCH A BEAUTIFUL LADY WITH A EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL SOUL SHE COULD BAKE CAKES THAT MELTED IN YOUR MOUTH. SHE LOVED HER FAMILY. LOSING A FAMILY MEMBER WHO IMPACTS SO MUCH TO ONES LIFE IS VERY HARD. NO ONE CAN TELL YOU IT WILL GET BETTER. IT DOESN'T! THIS HELPS ME. I FOUND A PLACE TO PUT THEM. I VISIT AS OFTEN AS I WANT OR NEED. JUST DON'T LOVE THERE.

There are just no words to describe how my heart is breaking knowing you're no longer here with us, but I know your memory will live on forever in my heart. I will miss you terribly, but I find comfort in knowing you're no longer suffering. I love you!
