

COLUMBIA - A celebration of life memorial reception for Mary Harden Androne, 57, will be held from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is in charge. Mary died unexpectedly Sunday, March 1, 2015 from complications due to surgery. Born on August 11, 1957, she was a daughter of Robert “Bob” Alexander and Jacqueline “Jackie” Shaw Harden. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Herbert and Oveda Harden and Claude and Alma Shaw, and her parents. Mary graduated from A. C. Flora in 1975. She attended Lander College and the University of South Carolina. She later received her Bachelor’s degree from the School of Business at the University of South Carolina (USC). Mary worked at USC for many years, most recently as the Business Director for the College of Nursing. She was the 2011-2012 president of the AEC and involved in numerous organizations on campus and in the community. Mary was an amazing colleague who gave endless support to USC and loved being a Gamecock. Mary was a giving, compassionate, loyal person who gave 110% to her family, friends, job, her beloved Gamecocks, and to life. She will be greatly missed by the numerous lives she touched. There will never be another Mary. Surviving are her loving husband, George, and son, Russell. Also left to cherish her memories are her siblings, Debbie Alderman (Kenny), Catherine Barger (Watson), Lynn Fennell (Al), Margaret Ezell (Jimmy), and Alex Harden; and her nieces and nephews, Dewalt (Jen), Harden (Allison), and Mark (Jessica) Alderman, Catie and Talbert Barger, Shaw (Stephen) Webb, Curt Fennell, Cal Ezell. She also leaves behind many other family members who adored her. The family hopes to establish a future scholarship in her name to the USC College of Nursing.
