Mary Pace Batson

WEST COLUMBIA Mary Pace Batson, 87, went home to be with Jesus on June 24, 2015. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Roy G. Pace and Tessie McKinney Pace. She was a graduate of Winthrop College. Mrs. Batson was a school teacher at Duncan Chapel Elementary and later worked as a Home Economist for the Clemson University Extension Service. She retired as the County Agent for Pickens County. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Jeffery Batson (Tammy); daughter, Jody Batson both of Columbia; grandchildren, Ryan Jeffery Batson (Sarah), Brandi Batson Hinton (Sean); brother, Melvin Pace of Greenville; several nieces and nephews and three great-granddaughters, Etta, Josie and Mary Ellis. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Ellis Batson and a sister, Doris Gibson. The family wishes to thank Still Hopes Episcopal Home for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Still Hopes Residential Assistance Fund, P.O. Box 2959, West Columbia, SC 29171 or Meals on Wheels, c/o Senior Resources, 2817 Millwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29205. A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
