Mary Allene LeFevre Buddin

Mary Allene LeFevre Buddin, 84, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at her home in Columbia. She was the daughter of the late Jean Alphonse LeFevre and Mattie Liza Gunter LeFevre and the widow of William Albert “Dub” Buddin, Jr.

Allene attended Wagener High School, Winthrop College, and was graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in journalism. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Buddin was woman’s editor of The Augusta Chronicle. She retired from Richland School District One where she worked as a special education teacher’s aide. Allene found great pleasure working in her yard and flower gardens. She was active in USTA tennis for many years and was a volunteer at the South Carolina State Museum. She was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church and the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Buddin is survived by daughters, Melissa Tringali (John), Elizabeth von Kolnitz (Hayne), and Amy Buddin; grandchildren, Kate Tringali Reese (Miles), Cam Tringali, Maggie Bliek, Pete Bliek, Halsey von Kolnitz, and Thomas von Kolnitz; brother, Charles LeFevre, and many beloved members of her extended family.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Shandon United Methodist Church followed by a reception in Player Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shandon UMC Landscaping Fund, the SC State Museum, or the Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center.
