
COLUMBIA - Graveside services for Mary Q. Hoefer, 92, will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is in charge. Mrs. Hoefer died Sunday, June 21, 2015. Born on December 20, 1922 in Dillon, she was the daughter of the late Guilford T. and Janie Hewitt Quick. She was in the first graduation class of Dreher High School in 1939. She retired from the Department of Housing and Urban Development after 33 years with the Federal Government. Mrs. Hoefer was past president of Columbia AARP Chapter 753 and was past president of Unit 6 of the American Legion Auxiliary and also served as State President of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Columbia Chapter 87 of NARFE and served as past State Federal President of NARFE. She was past president and member of the Yellow Jessamine Garden Club and was also a member of the Settlers Club and WWI Auxiliary. She was a member of Holy Trinity Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church. Surviving are her stepson, Norman Douglas Murray of Blue Springs, Mo.; grandchildren, Mary Ruth Gillespie of Lyman and Rhonda Price of Duncan; step grandchildren, Mark Dennis, Kathi Beford, Douglas Vance Murray, Suzie Gannon; great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husbands, Frank William Hoefer, Fred D. Murray and John B. Hinson; her son, John B. Hinson, Jr.; and step granddaughter, Susan Brown.
