Mary Alice Martin, born on December 10, 1957, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, was a devoted nurse, loving sister, and cherished friend. Daughter of the late Richard Mather Martin and Dorothy Marie Schroeder Martin, Mary dedicated her career to caring for others as a registered nurse at Walter Reuther Psychiatric Hospital and the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Saline, Michigan. Her compassion and commitment left a lasting impact on everyone she worked with.
Mary’s love for the outdoors was evident in her hobbies—she enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and hiking, finding peace and joy in nature’s embrace. She was blessed with a close-knit circle of friends, including special companions Patty and Jim Ciborowski and Sherry Tackett, who stood by her side through life’s journey.
She is survived by her sister Cheryl Ann Martin (Duane Hartman), sister-in-law Karen Martin, nieces Kristine Barnes (Aaron) and Laura Ward (Joseph), nephew Gregory Martin (Karen Gillespie), and great nieces and nephews Garrett and Miranda Barnes and Bryce and Finn Ward. Mary’s warmth and kindness touched many, and her friendships endured throughout her life.
A memorial service to honor Mary’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CJD Foundation for Research, supporting a cause close to her heart. Mary Alice Martin will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her gentle spirit and generous heart.
