

COLUMBIA - Mary Cecile DeWitt Warrington, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 24, 2015, at her home in Columbia. Born April 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin DeWitt and Eula Lee Jackson DeWitt. Mary graduated from the old Columbia High School, and retired from the federal government after a long career as Director of the Civil Service office in Columbia. She was a faithful, long time member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church. Mary is survived by her husband of 60 years, Albert Gordon Warrington; daughter, Lacy Jackson Warrington Derrick (Ron) of Chapin, SC; twin sons, Lee D. Warrington of Columbia, and Len G. Warrington and his fiancé, Pamela Craig Miller; sister-in-law, Jane G. Warrington of Columbia; former daughter-in-law, Jacquelyn Price Warrington, and two grandchildren, Madeline McColl Warrington, and Jackson Addy Derrick. She was predeceased by her sister, Katherine DeWitt Power, and brother-in-law, Samuel Robert Power. The family would like to convey a very special thank you to her loving caregivers, sisters Cherika Wilson, and Shannon Brisbon, whose dedication and devotion to her care enabled Mary to have a very comfortable final eighteen months. Visitation will be Monday, June 1, in the Kilbourne Park Baptist Church sanctuary at 11:00 am. A Memorial Service at the church will follow immediately at noon officiated by the Rev. Terry Smoak. Private burial will be at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine St., is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, or the American Red Cross, or Harvest Hope Food Bank.
