Michael Todd Overman

COLUMBIA Michael T. Overman, 40, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Born in Lexington, Ky., he was a son of Timothy L. Overman and Sue Bailey Overman. Michael was a 1992 graduate of Lafayette High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of Kentucky with Bachelor degrees in English and Philosophy. He obtained a Master’s of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the English department of the University of South Carolina. Michael liked to listen to and play music. He was in bands in Lexington, Ky. and Columbia, S.C. At the time of his death, he was an instructor in the English Program for Internationals and Coordinator for Pedagogical Technology at the University of South Carolina.

Surviving are his wife, Amanda L. Bowman; daughter, Kalina “Kali” Bowman; his parents; brother, David L. Overman; and nephew, John Overman all of Lexington, Ky.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, John Arch and Elizabeth Bailey and paternal grandparents, John W. and Madeline Overman.

A Mass of Christian burial for Michael will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. A memorial service will be held in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana, KY, at a future date.
