COLUMBIA – Nancy Fox Teeter, 88, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Born in Charlotte, NC, on September 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Eli Jeremiah “Jerry” and Violet Smith Fox. She was the wife of the late James. A. Teeter, Jr.
Nancy was a 1955 graduate of the University of Chapel Hill with her degree in History. While living in Georgia, she was active with the DAR Chapter in Tifton. Once she moved to Columbia, she taught kindergarten at Asbury Memorial Methodist Church. The wife of a professional Boy Scout Executive, she was a proud supporter of the local Boy Scout Council. Nancy also taught Head-Start to three and five year olds. Then, she retired from the State Health and Human Services Finance Commission in June 1994 after 18 years. Nancy was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. She was circle chair for Circle 2 and her Sunday School class was Bauknight Class.
She is survived by her children, James “Jim” A. Teeter, III, Robert “Bob” Wesley Teeter (Jodi), and Carol Teeter Ivey (Lentz); grandchildren, Jonathan Teeter, Matthew Teeter, Zachary Teeter, Tiffany T. Blackburn, Lauren Ivey, William Ivey, and Catherine Ivey; and great-grandchildren, Siler and Saige Teeter, and Jacob Blackburn.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jerry Robinson, her primary care for many years, Prisma Health Hospice, and the nurses and CNAs at Still Hopes for their love, care, and support.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Asbury United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, at Asbury UMC Social Hall.
