I so saddened to hear of the death of Mrs.Merritt. What great friends she and Mr. Merritt were of my parents, Frances and Whit Whitaker!
We had such wonderful times at the lake and the beach.
My condolences are with the Merritt family.

You don’t know me but my parents were good friends of the Merritt’s. They were Frances and Whit Whitaker. After mother got sick I served many dinners to the “bridge club”. The Merritt were always the nicest couple and Mrs Merritt was was so kind to my sister Pam and me when our parents died. I will remember her fondly. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

My family’s first home was next to the Merritt’s on Alston Rd. I recall visiting with Mrs Merritt on many occasions from age 3 to 6 when we moved to a much needed larger home for our family of six. She was always so kind to me often offering me cookies and milk in her kitchen as her sons played basketball outside the screen door. Such wonderful times! I’ve thought of her over the years wondering what happened to her and family.
I’m sorry to hear of her passing but glad she lived so long!
