Patricia Clarke Chassaniol, born August 25, 1926, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026. A native of Greenwood, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Richard Langdon Clarke and Elizabeth Baglan Clarke.
Pat shared 52 beautiful years with her beloved husband, the late Lloyd James Chassaniol. A gifted cook, skilled bridge player, and talented seamstress, she lovingly crafted clothes for her four daughters from their early childhood through their college years. After Lloyd’s passing, Pat moved to Columbia to be closer to her girls. She lived independently for four years before moving to Forest Lake Manor (formerly Atria), which became her cherished home. She was deeply loved by the residents and staff there, and she recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by her family.
The family expresses profound gratitude to the Forest Lake community for the immense love, respect, and care they showered upon Pat. We also extend our thanks to the doctors and nurses at Prisma Richland, and to the angelic hospice team from VIA Health Partners, who provided such compassionate support to both Pat and our family during her final days.
Pat is survived by her four daughters, Patti Ivie (Larry), Renee Culler (Joe), Suzanne Newell (Roger), and Jeanne Walker (Bruce); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A burial will be held at a later date in her hometown of Greenwood, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels (2817 Millwood Ave., Columbia, SC 29205) or Final Victory Animal Rescue (919 N. Lucas St., West Columbia, SC 29169).
