Pauline Byrd Shealy

A funeral service for Pauline B. Shealy, 91, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Lutheran Church of The Resurrection, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.

Mrs. Shealy died Saturday, February 10, 2018. She was a daughter of the late Walter A. Byrd and Susie Byrd. The wife of the late Rufus L. Shealy Jr., she was born in Jefferson, SC in Kershaw County on May 20, 1926. She is survived by sons, Wayne (Beverly) of Irmo, Mark (Janice) of Irmo, and Jeff (Nora) of Columbia; grandchildren, Allen Shealy, Denise Mack, Todd Shealy, Melanie Demoude, Jeffery Shealy Jr., and Josef Shealy; 8 great-grandchildren, Josh, Kiersten, Kelsey, Parker, Lane, Cole, Chase and Colter; and brother, Walter A. Byrd Jr. (Ann) of Lancaster, SC.

She was the last surviving charter member of Lutheran Church of The Resurrection where she sang in the choir, served as den mother for the Cub Scouts and was president of the W.E.L.C.A. group. She was Past Grand Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranth of South Carolina and Past Queen of The Daughters of the Nile Arabi #101.

She loved her family and she loved to have fun with her family and friends, who were many. The family would like to thank the staff at The Palmettos Parklane and Lighthouse Hospice.
