Rena Zalants

Mrs. Zalants was a loving mother, devoted wife, and gracious friend and elegant hostess. Her life was deeply rooted with her family, her orthodox faith, close friends, community, and the love of art.

In 1959, Mrs. Zalants was warmly welcomed to Columbia, SC and the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church community where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a Greek School teacher and a member of the Saint Katherine’s Philoptochos.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Emanuel Zalants. Mrs. Zalants is survived by her three children Larry Zalants; Anthony (Irene ) Zalants, with children Emanuel and Valen; George (Lele) Zalants with children Cheyenne, Shelby, Rena, George, Maria, Zack, & Lance and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday August 19, 2023 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1900 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201. The visitation will be 10:00 a.m., the Trisagion service will be at 10:30 a.m., and the funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1931 Sumter Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
