Rex Neal White

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Rex Neal White, Sr., 82, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Long Creek Church of Christ, 720 Longtown Road, Columbia, SC 29229. The family will receive friends following the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. White died Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Born in Conroe, TX on October 14, 1933, he was the son of the late Lee White, Mary Burkhart White, and Alamito Comer White. Rex graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX, where he played basketball on scholarship and served as Student Body President. He worked for Prudential Insurance Company in Columbia, Florence, and Roanoke, VA, and retired after 30 years as a District Manager. He was a member of Long Creek Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon. He was a past president of the Northeast Kiwanis Club. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Margie B. White; sons, Rex N. White, Jr. (Suzanne) of Conover, NC, Scott L. White (Alison) of Little Mountain, and Todd White (Cindy) of Florence; grandchildren, Janssen White, Ethan White, Sarah White, Kyndal White, Reagan White, Maggie White; brothers, Harold White (Sondra) of Marietta, OK and Lee White (Joan) of Ardmore, OK; and sister, Janie Horton of Ardmore, OK.
