

Richard Diuguid Moss, age 79, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on July 1, 2026. He was born on July 24, 1946, in Farmville, Virginia, to Dr. Charles George Gordon Moss and Laura Anderson Moss. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Delano Moss, daughter, Laura Ann Moss, and son, Tristan Diuguid Moss and his wife, Tanya Marie Green. Also, survived by his sister, Virginia Moss George, his deceased brother, Charles George Gordon Moss, Jr., nephews including, Craig Anderson Moss and wife Theresa Moss and children, Steven Todd Moss and wife Kim Kittrell, Moss and children, Geoff Diuguid Moss, and niece, Laurie Dee George and children. And survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Ann Delano and deceased brother-in-law, Mark William Delano, and nephew Matthew J. Delano and fiancée, Lisa Bond.
Richard Moss taught American History at C.A. Johnson High School for 28 years. While there, he received multiple awards for Teacher of the Year. He also taught at Gilbert Middle School, Gilbert High School, and Orangeburg High School.
He received an Honorary Degree from Longwood University for he and his father’s work in desegregation in Prince Edward County, Virginia.
The family would like to thank Richard’s family, friends, neighbors, and Colby College fraternity brothers (Delta Kappa Epsilon) for being so helpful and kind throughout his illness.
