COLUMBIA – Dr. Robert “Bob” Lee Wingate passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 peacefully at his home in Cordova, Tennessee. His wife Ann had passed away several weeks before and he truly missed her. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Elmwood Cemetery. Bob attended school in Columbia and graduated from Dreher High School and after which he attended the School of Medicine of Charleston graduating as a medical doctor. He practiced medicine in Columbia for several years and later took a job with the State of Tennessee where he met his beloved wife Ann where they had many happy years together. Bob became ill and spent several years in a nursing home and fought hard to recover to come home to his beloved Ann. Today they are again together “Praise the Lord.” He is survived by a step-son, Jeff, whom he was very fond of; several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Helen W. Bass (Jimmy) of Columbia.
