COLUMBIA - A Graveside service for Roy T. Loyd, 88, formerly of Union and Columbia, will be held Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia. Mr. Loyd died Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Born in Cowpens, he was the son of the late Barney S. Loyd and Jettie Pegram Brown. A veteran of World War II, he graduated from Furman University and received his masters degree from Florida State University. He retired from the SC Department of Social Services. He attended the First Baptist Church of Union and was a member of Greenlawn Baptist Church in Columbia. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Beth Loyd of Ringgold, Ga.; grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Loyd, both of Ringgold, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, John and Brenda Brown of Union, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Barney S. Loyd and a sister, Nellie Levan.
