COLUMBIA - Russell J. Pobis passed away peacefully on January 30, 2016 at the age of 93. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Josephine Pobis, his son Jim (Emmie) Pobis, grandson, Jay (Holly) Pobis and great grand children Chandler, Madison and Ellie Pobis. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army Air Corp. As an active member of the Presbyterian Churches in the locales of his employment, he served as Deacon and Elder in those congregations. He was a member of Optimist Clubs of America and a past President of the Nashville, Tenn. Chapter. Russ was an avid golfer and following his retirement from a career in the insurance industry, enjoyed many years of camaraderie with his fellow seniors at Columbia Country Club. A prayer service for family members will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home with a later memorial service at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
