COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Sibyl Mack McKinney, 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Spring Valley Baptist Church, with burial in Pine Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery at 4:30 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. McKinney passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018. Born in Lone Star, S.C. on December 27, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John Wilbur Mack and Carrie Stoudenmire Mack.
Sibyl worked for Wachovia Bank, Production Credit Association, and Aflac. She retired as the administrative assistant to the Dean at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. She was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church, where she was in the Valley Voices Choir. Sibyl enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, and was a member of the Garden Club and a life member of the Pilot Club.
Surviving are her son, Harry Don McKinney, Jr. (Kathy) of Columbia; daughter, Bettie McKinney Ackerman (Bruce) of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, David N. McKinney (Jamie) of Indian Trail, N.C., Julie M. Hatfield of North Charleston, Ashley S. Faison (John) of Jersey City, N.J., Matthew M. Bennett of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sean Ackerman of Jacksonville, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Daniel, Rhett, Matthew, Julia, and Adeline.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harry Don McKinney, Sr.; brother, John Lewis Mack; and sisters, Georgia Mae Jordan and Edna M. Sutton.
