COLUMBIA - Born August 9, 1936 in Calhoun County, Susan Culclasure Parker was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rawl Dargan Culclasure, Sr. and sister of three brothers whom she loved deeply; the late Rawl Dargan Culclasure (Beezy), Talley Felder Culclasure, and James “Jimmy” Wise Culclasure (Nancy).
Susan attended Columbia College where she ultimately met the late Harris Hartwell Parker, Jr., who would become the principal joy of her life when they married in June of 1958. Their beautifully talented daughter, Martha Susanne Parker brought immeasurable happiness until her untimely death at the age of 27.
Susan dedicated her professional life to the education of children with Richland County School District One. She was an active member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church.
Surviving Susan is her son, Harris Hartwell Parker, III (Shelly). She cherished her time and loved deeply her grandchildren, Madison Susanne Parker and Harris “Wells” Hartwell Parker, IV.
One could not imagine the individual love and beautiful care that each member of the Still Hopes Episcopal House and PRISMA Health Hospice team surrounded her throughout her time there.
A family service will be held at a later date.
Scholarship funds for Harris Hartwell Parker, Jr. and Martha Susanne Parker have been established at Columbia College, 1301 Columbia College Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.
